Life Skills Training
Generally, all human beings learn certain basic skills which are essential for survival during childhood through the process of imitation. In the case of the visually impaired these skills cannot be learned through imitation, but instead, have to be taught to them one by one. Each daily living skill has some sub-skills also which have to be taught in detail to the blind. Keeping this in mind we provide daily living skill training to those who need it. This training is provided to small children and some adults who have not been taught before. The training is provided during camps and also at the participant’s residence. The parents are also taught how to teach their blind offspring.
The general skills taught are brushing, personal grooming, dressing, identifying clothes, money management, cooking, etc
The aim of this training is to increase a sense of overall self sufficiency and independence in those with visual impairment.
Along with all of this Jyothirgamaya also organizes classes and events like 2019, Yoga day in particular was a memorable occasion for us, as it paved the way for a new partnership with Yoga association and Uma’s nutriyoga. We had a full- fledged session with all our students and the members of these two organizations. We are also pleased to introduce our new Yoga faculty MR Jayprakash who now teaches Yoga regularly
