This is yet adding another feather to the cap in the journey of Jyothirgamaya Foundation. An article was published in Deshabhimani Malayalam newspaper on October, 2025 regarding our aspiring and energetic blind student, Ratheesh.
Ratheesh, became blind late in life, almost in his late fifty’s. He had retinal diseases and he was losing his sight. When he started working as a bar manager, he was hit by a customer with an alcohol bottle, which took away his sight completely. This did not deter Ratheesh from climbing the ladder to success, so he went to various blind organizations in his district and through a well known visually impaired professor he came to know about our organization Jyothirgamaya.
He completed the “Empowerment Training Program for the Blind course” and he excelled in access technology and mobility training curriculum. He learnt to travel on his own using a white cane, by bus and train independently. Ratheesh learnt to use computer and other assistive devices, and has also joined the training in “Saksharatha Mission” and is now in the process of getting a job.
